Nataliya Gumenyuk talked on “Geopolitical Misunderstandings of the Ideas, Causes and Persistance of the Arab Spring and the Euromaidan” in the framework of the EUME Berliner Seminar on 25 November 2015 at the Forum Transregionale Studien Berlin.

The seminar was held on the theme “EuroMaidanTahrir: Trajectories of Revolution and Violence in Eastern Europe and the Arab World”. Nataliya Gumenyuk's contribution is based on her book Maidan Tahrir: In Search of The Lost Revolution devoted to the post-Arab spring development in Egypt, Tunisia, Jordan, Syria, and also Turkey, Palestine, Iran and Iraq. Her research is based on interviews with Arab activists and apolitical hipsters, artists and musicians, cyber-dissidents and bureaucrats, Islamists and atheists, peasants and townspeople on the everyday post-war and post-revolutionary life, their disappointments and resilience, and their search for themselves and for inspiration.
