Ukrainian Resettlement Across Canada: Arrival Contexts and Migrants’ Settlement Choices
--- closed event ---
Colin Scott (Concordia University, Montréal, Canada) and the Prisma Ukraїna: War, Migration, Memory Research Group discuss recent issues facing the arrival of forcibly displaced Ukrainians in Canada.
The talk will focus on the changing policy context around Canada’s reception of Ukrainian migrants, touching on the questions we have been circulating that are of interest to your group and a review of recent government efforts to resettle Ukrainians in more recent years. In addition, I have some survey data on Ukrainian immigrants’ settlement choices and the factors influencing their decision-making regarding retention and remigration after initial settlement.
Colin Scott is Assistant Professor, Dynamics of Immigrant Integration, at Concordia University in Montréal, Canada. His research is primarily focused on migrant decision-making, social cohesion, and intergroup relations.
